With cyber attacks and identity theft on the rise, it’s never been more important to protect yourself online. With two-factor authentication, being extra careful doesn’t have to be tedious, difficult, or time-consuming.
At United Domains, two-factor authentication comes free for every customer. And if you have a United Domains account but haven’t enabled two-factor authentication, taking a second to activate it is more than worth your while.
Two-factor authentication ensures that nobody can access your account without access to your smartphone, even if they already have your email address and password. This gives your United Domains account an additional layer of protection — and lets you rest assured that your domain portfolio is safe from hijackers, scammers, and other internet ne’er-do-wells.
And best of all, two-factor authentication comes totally free at United Domains, so you have nothing to lose by setting it up.
How two-factor authentication works
To use two-factor authentication, you first need to download an authenticator app onto your smart device, such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or FreeOTP.
When two-factor authentication is enabled, your authenticator app generates a special security code for you to enter along with your email address and password. This code is only valid for 30 seconds before a new code is generated, so you’ll get a new code every time you log in.
Since this code is sent only to your device and works for only a short time, you can be sure that no one can access your account without your email address, password, and access to your device.
How to enable two-factor authentication
Step 1: Log in to your United Domains account and select your name in the upper right corner, then select My Account.
Step 2: Select the Security tab.
Step 3: Select Set up two-factor authentication, then follow the on-screen steps.
We won’t mince words here: two-factor authentication is more than worth the two or three minutes it enable, and it’s 100% free to boot. If you have an account with us, we encourage you to enable two-factor authentication as soon as you can. And if you have any questions, we’re here for you.
